Experts suggest that the bed should be around 15cm (6 inches) longer than the tallest person that will be sleeping in it. In addition, the wider the bed, the better, to give each occupant enough room to sleep comfortably. That's why many couples automatically choose king size beds.

The right mattress

New beds require new mattresses. There's absolutely no point buying a new base and sticking an old mattress on top of it.
