Beds - preparing for delivery

Once you've bought your bed, you need to prepare for its delivery.

Depending where you bought your bed, you can expect its delivery fairly quickly. If you buy online from a retailer like Bed Next Day, you may even be able to get your bed delivered within the next 24 hours. Whether your delivery schedule is next day or next month, you'll need to make sure that you and your bedroom are ready for your new bed.

Fitting new beds with new decor

If you're completely redecorating your room, you should try and get most of the work done before your bed arrives. Ideally, any structural work should be completed, new carpets should be put down and painting and other decoration finished. This means that when your bed is delivered it can be taken straight into your room and you can start to add the accessories, soft furnishings and other touches that will transform your room.

Needing help

Do you need help when your bed is delivered? Some beds may need to be assembled by you, and some suppliers may only be able to deliver beds to your front door or the ground floor of your apartment building. In both these situations, you may need to enlist some help from friends or family to carry the bed to your room or to help you build it.

Taking time off

Beds are usually delivered either by the retailers own delivery service or by a courier working on contract. They will be delivering several beds during the day and often can't give an accurate time for your delivery. At Bed Next Day, we can guarantee delivery before 9.30 for a small charge, but many retailers don't offer this option. This means that you'll either need to arrange for someone else to be at home to wait for the delivery, or you'll need to take time off work. If you can, try and work at home for the day of the delivery, or arrange to work overtime to make up the time lost. If you can't take advantage of either of these options, you will need to take a day's holiday.
