Do you need to choose new bedding to go with your latest mattress?

If your mattress has seen better days, it's probably also true that your bedding has given you many years of good service. If it's time to change one, it's also time to change the other. Size

The first thing you need to think about is the size of your mattress. Many sleep experts recommend that you get the biggest bed you can. This is because a standard double bed really isn't wide enough to accommodate two people comfortably. In order to sleep well, you really need to get a king or superking bed if you share your bed with a partner. If this means upgrading from your current bed, you'll also need to upgrade your bedding. You'll need a larger duvet, duvet covers and larger sheets, otherwise you will be uncomfortable - a fitted sheet that doesn't fit the bed can change the dynamics of the mattress, reducing the support it can offer.

Colour and pattern

If you have designed your bedroom around a specific theme, you'll need to consider the colours and patterns that will fit your design. Some like to go for the classic white look, accented with a carefully-chosen colour that's reflected in the cushions, curtains or accessories. Others like to go for bold, vibrant bedding that creates a visual impact. Take the time to choose what's right for you. If you find a particular cover that's exactly what you want, buy two sets so that you can put the second set on your bed whilst your first set is in the wash.

Making sure you have bedding that fits your mattress properly, and that co-ordinates with your room design will go a long way to helping you get a good night's sleep.
