Having trouble sleeping? Choosing from our range of new beds could help.

Good sleep is vital to our quality of life. When we are deprived of it, we become irritable, less active, and prone to illness. If we continue to be deprived of sleep, we can become depressed. Insomnia is caused when:

? We cannot get to sleep at all
? Our sleep is constantly disrupted
? We wake up before we’re fully ready
? Our sleep is of poor quality

Everyone suffers from insomnia at some point or other. For most, it’s the odd night or two and may be caused by stressful situations at home or at work. For others, it’s a serious long-term problem that has a negative effect on them and all those around them. Some of the most common reasons for having sleeping difficulties include:

? Stress
? Depression
? Advancing age
? Rooms that are too cold or too hot
? Medication side-effects
? Excessive noise
? Alcohol consumption

Some illnesses and medical problems can also cause sleep difficulties and those who are having problems due to a specific condition should talk to their doctor for advice.

How do beds help insomnia?

The problems caused by insomnia will be aggravated by an old or inappropriate bed. In order for people to get a really good night’s sleep, the beds we use should be as supportive as possible, helping us to relax and feel comfortable. The more uncomfortable we are when we get into bed, the less likely we are to sleep well. An old bed can also be part of the cause of waking up during the night. Failing to find a restful sleeping position or becoming gradually less relaxed during the night can result in disturbed sleep which, in turn, makes us less responsive in the morning.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, consider changing your bed. Whilst you may also need to consult a doctor if you’re having long-term problems, new beds and good quality mattresses could go a long way to making you feel more comfortable at night – and more inclined to go to bed in the first place.
