Because each spring responds individually to the position of the sleeper (as opposed to acting as part of a unit), this type of mattress is far more flexible and supportive of any sleeping position than its continuous coil and open coil counterparts. It also means you’re less likely to be disturbed by the movements of someone sharing the bed! While they’re generally a little more costly than continuous coil and open coil mattresses, the pocket sprung variety can be well worth the investment for couples and those who need a little extra support from their bedding.

Foam and Latex Mattresses

Mattresses made of foam or latex tend to be more breathable than conventional spring-based mattresses, making them far better for people with allergies as they trap less dust and other particulates. Memory foam mattresses even use a special material that lets them ‘remember’ the shape and sleeping position of a sleeper’s body and accommodate it. However, some people may find their texture a little hard to get used to after a lifetime spent on springs! Nonetheless, they’re worth looking into if you’re looking for the most supportive mattress possible.
