Making the bed in the morning is definitely not everyone’s top priority. Some of us couldn’t care less what our sheets look like and others prefer a hotel worthy bedspread. The choice is entirely up to you. But can making the bed actually have benefits? Here’s why you should make your bed every day…
It sets the day up on a good note
We’ve all heard the saying “start as you mean to go on” and that generally applies to everything. Starting the day with a simple task like making the bed can lead to more productivity. The days we spend the morning lazing around in bed generally continue, and end with, you guessed it… Lazing around in bed. If you make the bed in the morning, that’s one task done already and will put you in a good mindset for the rest of the day.
It looks nice
Of course, the purpose of making the bed is to make the room look tidy. And a messy bed, no matter how tidy it’s surroundings are is an eyesore. People feel better mentally in a clean and tidy environment. So even if you don’t feel like cleaning the room up, making the bed will make the room look ten times better.
It can make you less tired
And more tired… Making the bed in the morning mentally separates you from it and can make you feel more awake. Kind of an out of sight, out of mind situation. That said, in the evenings a fresh, made bed is the most inviting sight for a tired person and can make you feel even more tired. Let’s face it, there’s nothing nicer than climbing into freshly made sheets at the end of the day.
Try making your bed every day and see how you feel, if you don’t already!
