The Ortho Madrid mattress contains a 13.5 gauge open coil spring system offering a medium level of support.
Probably the oldest design still used in today’s manufacturing, the primary function of the open coil spring system is to provide resistance and support for all different shapes and sizes.

Sometimes known as innerspring mattresses, an open coil mattress consists of a number of coil springs, a standard double bed has approximately 325 coil springs, manufacturers and sizes do differ. The coils are assembled into a single construction with helical wire which is a thin, spiral wire that joins the wire at the top and bottom to form several rows. An outer rod is then fitted around the top and bottom of the finished construction to provide additional strength.

The Overall depth of the Ortho Madrid mattress is 20cms (8”). The mattress contains luxurious layers of felt fibre fillings providing a firm feel, but very comfortable. The Ortho Madrid is covered in a lovely cream Damask fabric which is traditionally hand tufted.
