Memory foam - the truth

  Sleep Numbers or Memory Foam?

There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to your bedding, and two of the high contenders are Sleep Number beds and memory foam mattresses, both of which are supposed to conform to your body's shape and help you get the restful night's sleep that you crave, and both of which offer variable support for you and your partner.

Sleep Number beds are air mattresses that work by inflating or deflating at your command to reach the perfect level of firmness (or feather softness) that you desire. These beds can feel like you are sleeping on air, or they can feel like a stone slab when pumped up all the way, and tend to hold their inflation level very well. The Sleep Number beds also inflate and deflate on each side separately, meaning that you and your significant other can sleep on totally different levels of firmness without disturbing one another - it presents the perfect compromise!

The memory foam beds, on the other hand, do not rely on button pushing to conform to your body, but actually respond to your body's temperature, molding itself to your body and cradling you through the night. Because you are different weights, your weight is distributed differently, and because you both sleep differently, you and your significant other will get a completely different experience out of your memory foam bed, although you should both get a good night's sleep out of it.

In the end, it really comes down to taste. If all you want is a firm or soft mattress that is adjustable when you want it to be (and only then), then a Sleep Number bed is the way to go. If you are looking for a mattress that supports your body and hopefully aligns your spine to help you sleep better, then memory foam is your ideal.
