How often have you heard someone tell you "I
must have slept wrong last night"? If their complaint
is a sore neck or an aching back, they're probably
right. Here's why.
Your mattress needs to provide the right amount of support
at each pressure point on your body to keep your body
properly aligned. If the mattress is too soft, it allows
heavier parts of your body to sink deeper, pulling your
spine out of alignment. And when your spine is out of
alignment, it's tugging on all of the muscles
that are connected to it. That's why sleeping
out of alignment leads to "cricked neck syndrome"
or worse. If the mattress is too firm on the other hand,
it puts pressure on delicate tissues, leading to that
bruised feeling in your hips, shoulders and heels. Your
mattress has to figure out which parts of your body
need that little extra oomph underneath them to keep
them from sagging and pulling on all of your muscles.
Since everyone's body is different, there is no
"one size fits all" solution to the problem.
That's why the Sealy mattress company makes so
many different types and styles of mattresses. Whether
you prefer a memory foam or inner spring, pocketed coils
or linked coils, Sealy has just the right mattress for
you.
