Mattress Types - Zip And Link

A zip and link mattress allows each partner to choose the mattress that's best for them.

Most people who buy double, king or superking beds have a partner that shares their bed. It's often the case that the mattress that goes with the bed will suit one partner more than the other. What constitutes a supportive, comfortable mattress changes from one person to the next. Weight, height and normal sleeping position all have an impact on how supportive the mattress needs to be.

Mattress manufacturers have recognised this problem, and have started to produce a range of "zip and link" beds and mattresses. Providing flexible and adaptable sleeping accommodation, these products have several benefits:

Separate bases - instead of one large bed base, zip and link beds have two single bases that can be linked together to form a large double bed. In addition, the beds can be separated so that you can create a room with two single beds, both with headboards. Like other divan bases, these beds can also come with a storage option, and with sprung bases or firm edge bases, giving you all the choice you would have with a traditional bed with additional flexibility.

Separate mattresses - the real beauty of zip and link is that you can choose a mattress for each bed. You may choose a medium comfort mattress for yourself whilst your partner opts for one with a firmer rating. You can then link these two mattresses together to form a double bed that's completely comfortable and supportive for both sleepers. When you have guests, or you need to separate the beds, you can do so quickly and easily.

Ease of use - it's far easier to turn a single mattress than a double. Easier to look after, and at standard sizes so that you can buy bedding off-the-shelf, zip and link beds provide an all-round answer to a problem suffered by many couples.
