This is a really comfortable mattress, it is soft but supportive and I have not had any back issues since I got it, which was the reason for replacing my old mattress. I dont notice any cooling effect from the gel layer, but that might just be because I dont ever feel the cold and always feel warm. It is a very deep mattress so it is quite high now, but I am happy with my choice
