Buying guidance for TEMPUR® mattresses

What makes TEMPUR® material different from standard memory foam?

TEMPUR® material is a type of memory foam, but it has its own unique feel. It responds to your weight, shape and warmth, gently moulding around your body to provide pressure-relieving comfort.

While standard memory foam also cushions the body, TEMPUR® uses its own specially developed material, with origins in NASA technology. Different TEMPUR® mattresses use layers of this material to create different comfort and firmness levels.

TEMPUR® material also absorbs movement well, making it a good option for couples. If your partner turns over or gets out of bed during the night, you’re less likely to feel the movement on your side.

Advanced cooling technology: staying cool on a TEMPUR® mattress

A common concern with close-conforming foam is heat retention. TEMPUR® addresses this differently across its ranges, so the cooling features on the individual mattress matter as much as the brand name.

TEMPUR PRO® SmartCool™ mattresses use SmartCool™ Technology woven into a zip-off QuickRefresh™ cover. The cover is designed to feel cool to the touch and absorb excess body heat, while being removable and washable. The current TEMPUR EASE® models at MattressNextDay use breathable covers, but they are not the same as the PRO® SmartCool™ range.

If you regularly sleep warm, compare the complete specification rather than assuming every TEMPUR® mattress offers identical temperature regulation. Bedding, room temperature and your bed base can also affect how warm your sleep setup feels.

Which TEMPUR® mattress is best for me?

Start with the firmness and depth you prefer. MattressNextDay currently lists TEMPUR EASE® mattresses in a medium-firm feel and in 20cm, 22cm and 25cm depths. Are TEMPUR® mattresses good for hot sleepers?

They can be, but cooling features vary by range. TEMPUR PRO® SmartCool™ mattresses feature a cool-to-the-touch, washable SmartCool™ cover that absorbs excess heat. Other TEMPUR® models use different breathable covers and materials, so check the individual specification if temperature is one of your main concerns.

Are TEMPUR® mattresses hypoallergenic?

Yes. All TEMPUR® mattresses feature hypoallergenic covers that resist dust mites and allergens, making them a great choice for allergy sufferers. The breathable materials also help regulate temperature for a fresher, cleaner sleep environment.
