Why choose a Relyon mattress?
Relyon combines generations of British bed-making expertise with a wide choice of modern and traditional mattress constructions. Whether you prefer supportive pocket springs, soft natural upholstery or responsive foam and latex layers, there are options for different comfort preferences.
Handcrafted in Somerset: All Relyon mattresses are made at the brand's Wellington factory.
Responsive pocket springs: Individually pocketed springs can adapt more independently to your shape and movement.
Luxurious natural fillings: Selected models use wool, silk, cashmere, cotton and other fibres for comfortable, breathable cushioning.
Choice of firmness: Compare soft, medium, and firm options based on your preferred feel.
Generous guarantees: Some Relyon mattresses at MattressNextDay come with manufacturer guarantees of 10 or 15 years, depending on the model.
How to choose the right Relyon mattress
Start with the feel you enjoy. Relyon's range covers several comfort grades, so you can choose anything from a more cushioned surface to a firmer, more supportive sensation. Firmness is subjective and can feel different depending on your body weight and sleeping position, so treat the rating as a useful starting point rather than a universal rule.
Next, compare the mattress construction. Relyon's pocket sprung mattresses use independently moving springs designed to respond to differences in body shape and weight. Some models combine these springs with natural fibres, while others use memory foam, latex or gel-based comfort layers.
If natural materials appeal to you, look closely at the individual specification. Selected Relyon mattresses feature fibres such as wool, silk, cotton and cashmere. These materials can provide soft cushioning while helping moisture and heat move through the comfort layers.
Finally, consider the guarantee, mattress depth and care requirements. Some traditional natural-filled mattresses require both turning and rotation, while others may require only rotation. Checking these details before buying makes it easier to choose a mattress that suits your routine and sleep preferences.

Buying guidance for Relyon mattresses
Relyon's range gives you plenty of choice, from traditionally upholstered pocket sprung mattresses to designs incorporating memory foam, latex and gel. Understanding the materials and support systems can help you focus on the models most likely to suit how you sleep.
Exploring Relyon collections: Pocket sprung, natural fillings, and latex
Pocket springs are central to many Relyon mattresses. Because each spring can react independently, the support system can respond more closely to different areas of the body and to changes in sleeping position.
Selected mattresses then add different comfort materials:
Natural fillings such as wool, silk, cotton and cashmere provide soft, breathable cushioning and can help manage moisture around the sleeping surface.
Memory foam creates a closer, more contouring sensation.
Latex provides responsive cushioning with a more buoyant feel.
Gel-based layers provide responsive cushioning for sleepers who prefer an alternative to the close, contouring feel of memory foam.
The best starting point is the overall feel you prefer, followed by the individual mattress specification.
Understanding Relyon spring counts and firmness options
Spring count is useful when comparing mattresses, but a higher number does not automatically mean a better mattress. Relyon itself explains that comfort depends on factors including spring design, wire gauge, tension, and geometry, as well as the upholstery above the springs.
Your firmness preference matters too:
Softer feels can provide more cushioning around areas such as the shoulders and hips.
Medium options can be a versatile choice for sleepers who want a balance of cushioning and support.
Firmer mattresses create a more supportive, less yielding surface and may appeal to front or back sleepers or people who simply prefer a firmer bed.
Body weight influences how firmness feels, so compare the complete construction rather than choosing by spring count alone.
Essential care and maintenance for high-density natural mattresses
Natural upholstery can settle as you use your mattress, so regular care helps the fillings settle more evenly.
Relyon recommends following a regular rotation and, where appropriate, turning routine. The exact schedule depends on the model. Some turnable Relyon mattresses specify weekly turning and rotation for the first three months, followed by monthly maintenance, while other mattresses may have different instructions.
Air the mattress regularly by folding back the bedding, and use a soft brush for occasional cleaning. For spills, Relyon recommends absorbing moisture with a dry cloth or paper towel rather than using detergents or chemical cleaners.

Martin Seeley, Product Expert at MattressNextDay, answers questions about Relyon mattresses.
Where are Relyon mattresses made?
Relyon manufactures its mattresses in Wellington, Somerset, where the brand's factory remains based today. The company traces its origins back to 1858, when the Price Brothers began producing wool mattresses in Somerset.
That means Relyon brings more than 165 years of bed-making history to its current collection. Traditional skills continue to play an important part in the manufacturing process, alongside modern spring-making and production equipment.
What is special about Relyon pocket springs?
Relyon's pocket springs are individually contained, so they can respond independently rather than move as a single connected unit. This allows different sections of the mattress to respond to changes in body shape, weight and sleeping position.
Selected higher-specification models use multiple spring layers or hand-nested calico springs. Features such as hand side stitching or Relyon's Edge+ support are also available on particular mattresses to provide additional support around the perimeter. These features vary between models, so check the individual specification rather than assuming every Relyon mattress includes them.
Which natural materials are used in Relyon mattresses?
Materials differ from mattress to mattress, but Relyon's ranges can include wool, lambswool, cotton, silk, cashmere and other natural fibres.
These materials are layered above the mattress support system to add cushioning. Natural fibres can also offer useful breathability and moisture-management properties, helping create a more comfortable sleeping environment.
Always check the individual product description if a particular fibre is important to you, as natural materials and quantities vary considerably across the range.
Does a higher Relyon spring count mean more support?
Not necessarily. Spring count is only one part of how a mattress is constructed.
Relyon states that comfort is also influenced by factors such as spring tension, steel specification, wire gauge and spring geometry. The number of spring layers and the upholstery above them can make a noticeable difference, too.
Instead of choosing the largest number available, compare spring construction, firmness and comfort layers together. This gives you a much clearer idea of how the complete mattress is designed to feel.
Do all Relyon mattresses need turning?
No. Mattress care depends on the individual construction.
Traditional double-sided models may need both turning and rotating to help the fillings settle evenly, while single-sided mattresses may only require regular rotation.
Relyon recommends maintaining a regular routine because natural upholstery, latex, memory foam and other fillings naturally settle under body weight. Always follow the instructions supplied with your particular mattress, as these take priority over general advice.
What sizes are Relyon mattresses available in?
The current MattressNextDay Relyon collection includes popular UK sizes such as:
Selected models and configurations may be available in additional formats. Availability varies between products.
Does Relyon have a Royal Warrant?
Relyon has a long association with Royal Warrant recognition, and current third-party mattress retailers continue to describe the brand as a Royal Warrant holder. However, current Royal Warrant status can change when warrants are renewed or reissued, so it is sensible to check the latest official information if this credential is an important part of your purchase decision.
Can I finance a Relyon mattress?
Flexible payment options are available on selected Relyon mattresses at MattressNextDay.
Current product pages include options such as 0% finance through Klarna and PayPal Pay in 3, subject to age requirements, eligibility and the relevant terms and conditions.
Available payment methods can vary by purchase value and product, so check the options shown at checkout for the mattress you choose.
Can I get free next-day delivery on a Relyon mattress?
Yes, on qualifying products. Free next-day delivery is available on eligible in-stock Relyon mattresses across the UK mainland.
