I'm writing this having spent a month sleeping on this emma mattress. I have a slipped disc with nerve pain and very my old mattress wasn't helping. All I could do was lie flat on my back, any attempt to turn on my side to sleep was agony and by the early hours i'd had enough. Sleep was not easy.First impressions on unpacking this emma product were disappointing, this is no silk edged, solid, fancily embroidered luxury looking item despite the cost, it looks utility, it looks cheap actually. Polyester or nylon material and very plain, it looks like a hospital mattress but hey, you cover up a mattress so I assumed the expense is in the innards not the finish.Then I noticed the size. We have a standard double frame and our old mattress was a standard double that filled the frame fully without problem. This emma mattress does not. It's about 3 inches short in length and the corners are more rounded than right angled, it means there are sizeable gaps. That might not sound a big deal but it causes my pillows to disappear down the gap as the night goes on. After an hour the lower pillow has all but gone leaving my neck uncomfortable on just the one that's left.I shouldn't have to stuff gaps with old pillows just to stop the ones i'm sleeping on from disappearing.As for the comfort, i've slept on this for a month now, I can say it feels a little more comfortable, at least initially. Painkillers let me lie on my side to sleep, but I still wake up in agony once they wear off. Discomfort when sleeping is still very much there despite a gradual improvement in my back since christmas. By the morning my back, hip and leg is stiff and painful, and my spine feels fragile, just as it was before and i'm sorry, but without painkillers I just can't get comfortable on this mattress any other way than flat on my back again.I will persevere, given what i've paid I have little choice but if you're thinking of buying one of these mattresses to aid a back condition all I can say is that in my honest experience, it's no silver bullet, not a lot of difference for me.So, given the appearance, the distinctly iffy sizing and shape and the lack of any real improvement in comfort, then even at the discounted price I paid this is at best an average solution.Thanks for taking the time to read this review
