Simba Mattress Buying Guide
Here's everything you need to know to help you choose the best Simba mattress for you.
Simba are one of the most famous and well-respected hybrid mattress brands in the world, shipping their innovative mattresses to countries on all continents and using their patented Simba mattress tech to provide countless customers with an incredible night's sleep. If you're looking to buy a new mattress, take a look at our guide to the best Simba mattresses, and take a deep-dive into what makes this brand so special.
Why you should consider a Simba mattress
When looking for a new mattress, many people turn to brands that are known for offering exceptional quality, especially ones that are a household name like Silentnight and Sleepeezee. For those of us who appreciate technology and something a bit more modern, Simba ticks all the boxes, being a recognised worldwide sleep brand, known for its innovation and clever design.
All Simba mattresses, from their standard models to their Natural Hybrid range, use a combination of reactive pocket springs and adaptable memory foam, making them some of the most supportive and comfortable hybrid mattresses available.
Specifically, these mattresses are manufactured using their patented Aerocoil springs, which are made using a specialised titanium alloy and designed to maximise spinal alignment to keep your body in the healthiest sleeping position. Different layers of special comfort and memory foam then ease pressure and tension from every point of your body, giving you a 'weightless' feel while also encouraging airflow for a fresher environment.
To put it simply, a mattress from Simba is unlikely to disappoint. They're a well-known, highly regarded sleep brand that puts a lot of time and effort into their design and creation process. Plus, all of their mattresses are backed by a 10-year guarantee!
You can also pair your mattress with something from our Simba accessories range to properly complete your modern, supportive sleep setup. These bedding accessories are created with the same care and attention to detail as their mattresses, and also feature clever technology that promotes a better night's sleep.
Simba vs other mattress brands
If you're at the beginning of your new mattress journey, you might be wondering how Simba measures up to other brands, especially ones that also use modern sleep technology, like Emma and TEMPUR.
Simba vs Emma
Both Simba and Emma mattresses use innovative technology and are incredibly popular all over the world. Here are the key similiarites:
- They are both 'bed-in-a-box' brands, creating roll up mattresses that are easy and convenient to transport.
- They both create hybrid mattresses that feature both springs and foam.
- They're both excellent for pressure relief and motion isolotion, meaning you won't be disturbed by your partner turning in the night.
- Both Emma and Simba are similarly priced, and are available with free next day delivery from MattressNextDay.
But what about key differences between Simba and Emma mattresses?
- Simba mattresses are slightly thicker than Emma mattresses and feature more layers of materials, but this also makes them slightly heavier.
- Simba mattresses feature more cooling technology than Emma, which is ideal for hot sleepers.
- Simba offers more orthopaedic models, which are excellent for reducing back pain, while Emma has more medium-feel mattresses that suit any sleeping style.
So, if you need extra support for your back, need specialist cooling technology to prevent overheating, or like the idea of getting lots of innovative materials for your money, definitely opt for a Simba mattress. If you prefer a 'sink in' feeling that traditional memory foam offers, or want something a bit physically lighter to handle, take a look at our Emma mattresses.
Simba vs TEMPUR®
TEMPUR is another mattress brand that's all about innovation. They're also highly regarded across the world, and are known for their clever TEMPUR Material with its open-cell structure for enhanced airflow.
Here are some of the key similarities between Simba and TEMPUR:
- Like Emma, they also both come rolled and boxed for easy movement.
- They both offer medium to medium-firm support, which is essential for spinal alignment and posture control.
- Both have removable, machine-washable covers for cleanliness and hygiene.
- Both Simba and TEMPUR mattresses are designed for maximum pressure relief and a 'weightless feeling'.
And here are the main differences between these two brands:
- Simba use pocket springs and natural materials in their mattresses alongside specialist foam, whereas TEMPUR is all-foam.
- TEMPUR is known for its deeply contouring, slow-response 'hug' feeling, whereas Simba offers more bounce and a feeling of sleeping 'on top of' your bed rather than 'in it'.
- TEMPUR is slightly more expensive than Simba, which offers more entry-level options.
As you can see, a Simba mattress is going to be best if you're looking for a weightless feeling and like the idea of other materials than just foam, and TEMPUR is best if you're just looking for an all-foam, no-spring mattress.
If price is a key concern for you, take a look at our Coolflex mattresses, which also feature innovative technology that's rolled and boxed, but for a fraction of the price.
How to choose a Simba mattress
Choosing the best Simba mattress for you will vary depending on your personal needs and preferences. For example, you'll need to consider size, firmness, and how important features such as temperature regulation, orthopaedic support, and natural materials are. Thankfully, the Simba mattress range is vast enough to offer something for everyone.
What mattresses are available?
If you're looking for pure innovation and a real contemporary feel, go for something from the Simba Hybrid range. Aerocoil springs and Simbatex foam layers make for a mattress that has evidently been through a lengthy design process.
This collection features the likes of the Simba Hybrid® Luxe Mattress, which also includes bamboo and a layer of Graphite Infused Simbatex® Cooling Foam for a moisture-wicking, truly refreshing sleep surface.
The Simba Natural Hybrid range
If you're a fan of modern sleep technology but prefer a more natural, sustainable sleep surface, consider the Simba Natural Hybrid range, previously called the Simba Earth range, before a simple name switch. Plumped with eco-friendly natural fibres, such as Hampshire wool, and finished in a plant-based viscose cover, these mattresses offer incredible pressure relief, full-body cushioning, and a fresher feel.
The Simba® Natural Hybrid Apex Mattress, for example, even includes a cashgora (from a cross-breed of mohair-producing Angora goats and cashmere goats) and silk layer, adding luxury, traditionality, and serious comfort.
What is the best Simba mattress?
The best Simba mattress will depend entirely on what's important to you. When searching for your perfect mattress, it's important to consider a range of factors - not just size and firmness, but your body type and shape, and special features that suit your individual sleep needs.
For example, for couples who have just moved into a new home, or for anyone looking to upgrade their current sleep setup but doesn't want to spend thousands, we'd recommend the classic Simba Hybrid® Mattress. If you do share a bed, opt for a king-size or super king (if you have the space) so that you can stretch out and get full use of the comfort features of this mattress.
If you've got a bit more budget to spend, and like the idea of maximising the amount of technology you can squeeze onto your bed frame, the best Simba mattress will probably be the Simba Hybrid® Ultra Mattress. With up to a whopping 7,300 pocket springs (in the king-size model), a Wool, Kapok & Bamboo FusionCool™ Layer, and a Latex & Coconut Fibre PureLift™ Layer, it's the epitome of modern sleep advancements.
And no member of the family has to miss out on the pure comfort and support of a Simba mattress, as they also offer a range of kids' and cot mattresses. In fact, the Simba Hybrid® Kids Mattress boasts a number of awards, including an Ideal Home Approved award, while the Simba Hybrid® Cot Bed Mattress features two Mother & Baby award wins.

How do I set up my Simba mattress?
Once you've ordered your mattress and had it delivered, you'll need to know how to get it ready to sleep on. Because Simba mattresses come rolled and boxed, there are a couple of things you'll need to do before you can get cosy on it.
- Slide the mattress out of the box. Make sure you've got enough room around you to lay the mattress flat.
- Carefully rip the outer plastic packaging. Please don't use scissors, as you're likely to accidentally cut the mattress itself.
- Let it unroll itself, and lay it flat in a well-ventilated room to regain its shape.
- Let it expand for a few hours before sleeping on it, or if you can, wait at least 24 hours before lying down. It can take up to 72 hours for your mattress to become fully inflated.
Here are a couple of dos and don'ts for setting up your Simba mattress:
- DO place it on a slatted bed frame if you have one, as this will help air reach all areas of the mattress.
- DO keep the temperature of the room warm and toasty, as this will help the mattress expand.
- DON'T lay the mattress on its side, as this can cause the fillings to shift unevenly.
- DON'T use a knife or scissors to open the packaging, as you risk cutting the mattress material.

As Simba mattresses include memory foam, you might notice a 'new mattress smell'. This is totally normal and safe, and is a process called 'off-gassing' from the creation process. Keep your bedroom ventilated, and the smell should disperse within a few hours.
How much are Simba mattresses?
All of the mattresses in our Simba range vary in price, meaning no matter your budget, you'll be able to find one that suits you. Of course, the larger you want your mattress to be, the more expensive it will be. Prices start from around £500 for a single Simba Hybrid® Mattress, which is the cheapest Simba option available. For a king size in the same model, you're looking at around £700.
On the other end of the scale, Simba mattress prices can reach £2000+ for the luxurious Simba Hybrid® Ultra Mattress, so as you can see, there's a lot of variety.
The cost of a mattress shouldn't put you off investing in your sleep. When you buy with MattressNextDay, you can take advantage of flexible payment options, such as paying in 3 instalments with Klarna. You can even cover the cost over 36 months if you want to!
