Best-Selling Mattresses

Why buy best-selling mattresses from MattressNextDay?

Our best sellers are an easy place to start if you’re not sure which mattress to choose. Explore pocket-sprung, memory foam, and hybrid mattresses across different firmness levels and budgets, with choices suited to different sleep positions and comfort preferences. From there, compare the support, materials and price that matter to you.

How to choose the right best-selling mattress

Popularity is useful when you’re building a shortlist, but your own sleep preferences should decide what you buy. Think about how you sleep, the firmness you find comfortable and what you want to spend.

Your usual sleep position can point you in the right direction. Side sleepers may prefer more cushioning, particularly around the shoulders and hips, while back and front sleepers often look for a more supportive feel. It’s a guide rather than a rule though, as comfort and firmness preferences vary from person to person.

The mattress construction will also make a noticeable difference in how it feels. Pocket springs tend to give a more responsive surface, while foam offers closer cushioning around the body. Once you know which feel appeals to you, compare the firmness grades, comfort layers and materials available within that mattress type.

Price matters, but it’s worth considering what you get for your money rather than choosing based on cost alone. Materials, construction, useful features and the length of the guarantee can all help you judge the overall value.

Buying guidance for best-selling mattresses

Not sure which best-selling mattress will suit you? Your sleep position and the type of support you prefer are useful starting points. Use the guidance below to compare options for side, back and front sleepers, as well as mattresses that may offer a more supportive feel.

Top recommendations for side, back and front sleepers

Side sleepers often prefer a little more cushioning around the shoulders and hips. A medium soft to medium mattress can be a good place to start, particularly if you like the closer cushioning of memory foam or the balance of comfort and responsiveness offered by a hybrid. Brands such as CoolFlex® and Emma® have memory foam and hybrid options worth comparing.

Back sleepers may prefer a medium to medium firm mattress that provides steady support without feeling excessively hard. Memory foam, hybrid and pocket sprung mattresses can all work well, depending on the feel you prefer. If you like a firmer, more supportive surface, you can also compare orthopaedic mattresses from brands such as Tuft & Springs and CoolFlex®.

Front sleepers often look for a medium firm to firm feel to help limit excessive sinking around the middle of the body. Pocket-sprung and hybrid mattresses are useful options to compare, while brands such as Emma and Silentnight offer firmer models suited to shoppers who prefer a more supportive feel.

These are starting points rather than fixed rules. Body weight, comfort preference and mattress construction will all affect how a particular firmness feels.

Best mattress for back pain: support and alignment

There is no single mattress that’s best for back pain, and a mattress shouldn’t be treated as a medical solution. For sleep comfort, look for steady support in your usual sleeping position and compare firmness, cushioning and how evenly the mattress responds to your weight. A firmer mattress is not automatically the better choice.

Ask the expert about best-selling mattresses

Choosing between popular mattresses is easier when you know which features matter most. Our product experts answer common questions about best-selling mattresses, including mattress type, firmness, sleep position, comfort, value and delivery.

Martin Seeley, Product Expert at MattressNextDay, answers questions about choosing a best-selling mattress that suits you.

What is the best mattress in the UK?

There is no single best mattress for everyone. The right choice depends on your sleeping position, preferred firmness, body size, whether you share the bed, and the type of feel you find comfortable.

Best sellers can help narrow the choice. From there, compare construction, comfort layers, reviews and guarantee.

How do you compare the best-selling mattresses?

Popularity is only part of the picture. When comparing best sellers, focus on a few things that will make the biggest difference to how the mattress feels:

• Firmness and support: look for a comfort grade and level of support that suits how you sleep.

• Cushioning: check how much pressure relief the comfort layers provide, particularly around the shoulders and hips.

• Partner movement: if you share a bed, consider how well the mattress limits movement travelling across the surface.

• Temperature: if you tend to sleep warm, compare breathable materials, airflow and any cooling-focused features.

Hybrid vs memory foam vs pocket sprung: which is best?

It depends on the feel you prefer:

Compare the individual construction rather than assuming one mattress type is automatically better.

Does a new mattress need time to settle?

Yes. A new mattress can feel different at first, as you get used to the surface and the materials begin to settle. Foam and latex may initially feel firmer, while sprung mattresses and their comfort fillings can soften slightly with regular use.

Make sure you also give the mattress more than one night before deciding how it feels, unless it is clearly unsuitable.

How much should I spend on a good mattress?

There is no fixed amount. Look at what you receive for your budget, including the support system, comfort materials, construction, guarantee and delivery.

A mattress for your main bed may justify a larger investment than one for an occasional guest room, but a higher price does not automatically mean a better fit for the way you sleep.

Can I get next day delivery on a best-selling mattress?

Free next day delivery is available on eligible in-stock mattresses across the UK mainland.

Availability depends on the product, your location and the order cut-off time, so check the delivery information for the mattress you are considering before ordering.
